Não sei o que penso saber

Não sei o que penso saber.

É incógnita e devaneio

O que aprendemos ser

Verdadeiro.

*

I don't know what I think I know.

It is unknown and a daydream

What we learnt to be

True.

Ayalal,

23.Rova.4711

Tenho esta longínqua memória

Tenho esta longínqua memória

Que não cessará de existir,

De ti, uma trémula tocha

Na escuridão, a luzir.

Apagaram-te, mas serás eterna,

A alumiar meu coração,

E sentirei sempre teu embalar,

Teu abraço e o aperto de tua mão.

*

I have this distant memory

That won't cease to exist,

Of you, a trembling torch

Shining in the darkness.

They erased you, but you’ll be eternal,

Lighting my heart,

And I will always feel your lulling,

Your embrace and the grip of your hand.

Ayalal Duruvan

21.Rova.4711

Os dedos da Vingança

São longos e traiçoeiros,

Os dedos da Vingança,

Tanto que, ligeiros,

S'estendem além do tempo

Aguardando a Esperança.

*

The fingers of Revenge

Are treacherous and long,

So much that they extend

Far beyond time

Waiting for Hope.

Ayalal Duruvan,

17.Rova4711

Em teu olhar há uma ave

Em teu olhar há uma ave

Que voa muito além do mundo.

É doce, pura e um sonho

A espreitar ao longe.

*

In your eyes there is a bird

That flies far beyond the world.

It is sweet, pure and a dream

Peeking in the distance.

Ayalal Duruvan,
18.Rova.4711

There's nothing to see

There’s nothing to see,

There’s no one,

There’s no me.

There’s just the ashes

That come

From the sacred light

Of the Sun.

Hurad Duruvan

Há um novo vazio que me preenche

Há um novo vazio que me preenche,

Onde habitou seu frio irmão.

Morno e melancólico, tem em si

A nostalgia do que ficou

Como recordação.

*

There’s a new emptiness that fills me,

Where its cold brother inhabited.

Warm and melancholic, it has in itself

The nostalgia of what remained

As a memory.

Hurad Duruvan

Ansiei ser o que desconhecia

Ansiei ser o que desconhecia,

No passado que rumava

Pelo enigma da vida;

Ansiei ser tanto que não sabia,

Tão mais que me perdi,

Alheio de mim.

*

I longed to be what was unknown,

In the past that wandered

Through the riddle of life;

I longed to be so much that I didn't know,

So much more that I got lost,

Unaware of myself.

Hurad Duruvan

A perfeição

A perfeição

É uma impossibilidade tentada,

Um rasgo de ingenuidade e o sonho

Da mente iluminada.

*

Perfection

Is an attempted impossibility,

A ripple of naivety and the dream

Of the enlightened mind.

Hurad Duruvan

Como um suspiro

Como um suspiro

Com o despropósito de existir,

Acendeste o que nasceu

Sem luz;

Tocaste o cerne frio

Da clausura de um coração

E despertaste

Esta alma.

*

As a sigh

With the non-purpose of existing,

You lit what was born

With no light;

You touched the cold core

From the enclosure of a heart

And you awakened

This soul.

Hurad Duruvan

Dolorosa é a verdade

Dolorosa

É a verdade que paira

Qual ave de marfim pálido,

Frio e cru. Sábio

É aquele que com ela baila

De mão dada.

Painful

Is the truth that hovers

As a bird of pale, cold

And raw ivory. Wise

Is the one who dances with it

Hand in hand.

Hurad Duruvan

Alone with the cold

Miranda - The Tempest, by John William Waterhouse (1916)

Alone with the cold,

Alone with the tides of time,

I whisper to the old

Deep past of mine.

It sank in the years

Beyond the edge of mortality,

Taking dreams, tears and fears

And their own reality.

Will it come back to learn

What it hasn't learnt before?

Will it be able to discern

The lost way to the shore?

The waves which bring the future
Are uncertain but they unfold
Unknown changes that can nurture
The old past I still hold.

Hurad Duruvan

É certa

É certa

A incerteza que me habita,

Tão certa quanto a melancolia

Da despedida

E a lágrima escondida

Que o olhar contém.

*

It is certain

The uncertainty that dwells in me,

As certain as the melancholy

Of farewell

And the hidden tear

The eyes hold.

Hurad Duruvan

Corres sem alcançar

Corres sem alcançar

O que o alcance tem a dar;

Corres vendo-o partir

E a roubar de ti

Esperança e certeza

De que há beleza

No que é real.

*

You run without reaching

What reach has to give;

You run watching it leaving

And stealing from you

The hope and certainty

That there's beauty

In reality.

Hurad Duruvan

Roubo o rio da vida

Roubo o rio da vida

E o seu deleite de correr

Para a foz do coração;

Roubo e tomo-o para mim,

Sem de mim nunca ser;

Serei somente

Ladrão.

*

I steal the river of life

And its delight

Of running to the mouth of the heart;

I steal it and take it for myself,

Without it ever being mine;

I will only be

A thief.

Hurad Duruvan

Triste como a saudade

Triste como a saudade,

Disperso-me ao vento do amanhecer.

Sou cinza sem idade

E semente que sem arder

É liberdade.

*

Sad as yearning,

I disperse myself in the wind of dawn.

I’m ageless ash

And seed that without burning

Is freedom.

Hurad Duruvan

São palavras no vazio

São palavras no vazio,

As que sem se dizer

Dizes para ti,

As que sentes no sentir

Não expresso,

E que definham

No coração.

*

They are words in the void,

The ones that without saying

You say to yourself,

The ones you feel

In the unexpressed feelings,

And that languish

In your heart.

Hurad Duruvan

Nada mais é a perfeição

Nada mais é a perfeição,

Senão um sonho disperso

Que o Imperfeito escreveu em verso,

Enquanto no seu coração

Procurava

O inexistente que nos falta.

*

Perfection is nothing

But a scattered dream

The Imperfect put in verses,

While in its heart

It sought after

The nonexistent that we miss.

Hurad Duruvan

Sou um corpo de alma vaga

Sou

Um corpo de alma vaga

E a névoa que se condensou

Do álgido raiar da morte.

*

I am

A body of vague soul

And the condensed mist

Of the algid dawn of death.

Hurad Duruvan

Nada mais é a morte

Nada mais é a morte

Que a imortalidade

De ser o mundo.

*

Death is nothing more

Than the immortality

Of being the world.

Hurad Duruvan
